PIGMENT:
- For white markings, the pigment is titanium dioxide (anatase or rutile)
and its content is such as to give a minimum luminance factor of the material of 75.
- For yellow markings, the pigment is a lead chromate which
is sufficiently heat stable. The pigment content used will depend on the colour
required by the engineer.
- The total content of pigment and extender is between 18%
and 22%.
PERFORMANCE:
- DENSITY: approximtely 2.0
- FLASH POINT: Open flash
point above 235C° (COC)
- SOFTENING POINT (BS. Appendix C):
93°-105°C , measured by the Ring & Ball method.
- LUMINANCE (BS. Appendix D):
not less than 75 for white, and 50 for yellow.
- FLOW RESISTANCE (BS. Appendix F):
The percentage decrease in the height of the cone of REDA Thermoplastic is not more than
25% after testing for 48 hrs. at 40C° (tropical or semi-tropical grades).
- LOW TEMPERATURE IMPACT RESISTANCE
(AASHTO M-249-74): After heating the Thermoplastic material for 4 hrs at
218°C and tested, the impact resistance shall be a minimum of 10 inch/lbs.
- SKID RESISTANCE (BS. Appendix K):
The skid resistance of a laboratory prepared sample of REDA Thermoplastic is not less than
45.
APPLICATION THICKNESS:
Screed lines or special
markings: not less than 3.0 mm.
Sprayed lines:
not less than 2.0 mm.
- The minimum thickness specified is exclusive of surface
applied solid glass beads, the determination of thickness shall be in accordance with BS
3262.
